While growing up in Denver, CO. Ryan picked up his first guitar at the age of 12. After learning three chords, he wrote his first song, and never stopped. He played with the same band and practiced constantly throughout college while studying theatre and managing a music store. In 2003 he moved to New York City's East Village and played in various venues. In 2008 he recorded his first album and continues to play and write. Starting In 2008,  Ryan created, the "Folk Off", where monthly, he planned and hosted other singer / songwriters for a full evening of entertainment. In 2009, Ryan collaborated with other musicians and the group "Ryan Saliman and the Band of Strangers" was formed. In 2011 he moved to Los Angeles to further pursue his music career. Lauren Morrow of NewYorkPudding wrote: "Saliman’s sound is distinct, especially in this urban mecca. An amalgamation of rock, alternative, folk and country, his music is delightfully difficult to categorize. “My sound is like a Colorado sunset, dipped in whiskey and then dropped on the tracks of the F train,” he says. And those aren’t even lyrics. Saliman is conversationally cool and witty, and his music is much the same. A performer unlike any other, his set is sure to be loaded with quality songs with affecting melodies, and maybe even “a growl or two.” He is not only a singer/songwriter, but a performer, and his approach can vary from raucous to melancholy, depending on the heart of each song."
